The transformation of the old Police Station and Court Rooms on Bank Street in Keswick in to the "The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas" is nearing completion. JD Wetherspoons, who bought the property, are reported to have spent £1.56 million on its renovation and refurbishment.

Many of the original features have been retained including the original cell doors , the witness box and the dock. The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas is the first pub owned by the Wetherspoons chain to open in the Lake District.

The pub, which will have extended opening hours, will open its doors on Tuesday, 30 September. Like other JD Wetherspoons pubs, The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas will not have accommodation.
